The village is set up inside a wall of tree limbs with huts inside. The wall of tree limbs is actually a corral for the Masai's cows. The cows are corralled at night. Tigers are known to get through the wall kill cows. In the past, the Masai would kill a lion to prevent it from escaping with a cow. Now, the government pays the Masai for any cows killed by lions in order to preserve the life of the lions. The huts are very small and there are a lot of flies in the corrall b/c of the cow dung. I went inside a hut and it is devoid of personal affects. The hut I saw is composed of two rooms - one is larger than the other- with a small hallway between them. The small room in the front has a small anterom where calves are kept at night. I think to protect them from the lions! The larger room in the back is for sleeping and cooking.
